SOME WORKS ABOUT

CORPORATE IDENTITY

1) DEATH

Five digital paintings on The subject of death.

These were originally commissioned for Shelf Life, a Northern Disability Arts book publishing project of writing and art by disabled people who have personal experience of a condition that is likely to curtail their natural life-span.

2) CHERNOBYL

With Tony Meredith I am currently working on Agitpot Ceramics. I have started to create a series of works in ceramics and other media on various themes including the 'moon landing?', The Boxing Day Tsunami, Guantanamo Bay, Chernobyl Nuclear Plant Fire. Here I am submitting some audio and visual works on the Chernobyl disaster. These are poem posters; digital paintings which include photos of some of the Chernobyl ceramics before firing. The heads and the other pieces are now biscuited and waiting to be glaze fired.

I use the computer to assist in designing the ceramic pieces then use the ceramic pieces to assist in designing the computer art. So there is an infinite relationship between the various media of expression.

The Chernobyl heads will be decorated with the poems that I have linked here as soundscapes. The Chernobyl Plant ceramic sculpture features a cloud where a text is carved out. This piece will be painted with oxide and glaze fired.

3) CORPORAL IDENTITY

These sound poems were originally commissioned by Full Circle Arts in Manchester for their DADA web project.

That website was taken down after some controversy concerning access.

The poems use assistive technologies to explore themes of corporeality and identity. In some I duet with the robots. In others I have created virtual choirs from the screenreading voices.
